Siemens Introduces Carrier-Free Fixed Mobile Convergence

Cellular carriers' role in enterprise telephony got a bit more tenuous with Siemens' introduction of its HiPath MobileConnect fixed mobile convergence (FMC) product. Sitting between a SIP PBX and a voice-capable wireless LAN, the MobileConnect appliance communicates with client software running on dual mode cellular/Wi-Fi handsets.
